Virtual production
The background is finished when the take is — an LED wall built for the camera, not the eye
Virtual production moves post-production into the shoot. Instead of green screen and weeks of compositing, the scene plays against an LED wall showing the environment while the camera rolls. Actors see what they are playing against, and light from the wall falls naturally on faces and costumes — reflections in metal and glass come out right without anyone adding them afterwards. The demands on the panel are stricter than usual: the image must not only look good to the eye, but survive being filmed at close range, with camera movement and short shutter speeds.
Built to perform
Synchronised to the camera
The wall is genlocked to the camera shutter so every frame exposes against a complete screen refresh. Without it, footage picks up rolling scan lines that cannot be removed in post.
Holds up in close-up
Pixel pitch is chosen from how close the camera goes to the wall, not from where people stand. Chosen correctly, it avoids moiré when the camera pushes in on the background.
Colour calibrated to camera
The wall is calibrated against the camera's colour profile, not just the eye. Skin tones and brand colours reproduce correctly in the take without correction afterwards.
Lights the scene
The surface acts as a light source, casting the environment's own light onto the subject. Reflections in glass, metal and eyes come out right in camera.
Curved and overhead
Panels build into a curve around the set and continue overhead, so the camera can pan without reaching the edge. Form factor is set by the build, not by the panel.
Low latency in real time
The signal chain is configured for minimal delay between camera tracking and image on the wall. Perspective follows camera movement with no visible lag.
Use cases
Film and drama
Environments that would otherwise mean travel or building sets. Actors see what they are playing against instead of green screen.
Commercials
Multiple locations shot in a single day. The background changes between takes rather than between days.
Automotive photography
Reflections in paint and glass that match the environment. What is normally hardest to retouch comes out right in camera.
Music video and content
Visual environments that change between takes. The artist performs inside the image rather than in front of it.
Product visualisation
Products shot in context without building a physical set. The environment changes by loading a new scene.
